Balloon dilation and electrodestruction for colorectal anastomosis strictures

AIM: to assess results of balloon dilatation (BD) and electric destruction (ED) for strictures colorectal anastomoses. PATIENTS AND METHODS: the prospective cohort study included 69 patients with anastomotic strictures. Thirty-two them underwent endoscopic dilatation, 37 — scar tissue using a spherical monopolar electrode. RESULTS: recurrence rate stricture in BD group was 3 times higher than after ED (OR = 2.9; 95% CI: 0.7–11.1; p 0.04). The independent factor extent > 11 mm 11.8; 1,57–123,5; 0.02). CONCLUSION: are effective safe methods risk narrowing more long.
